    Alcohol Compliance Education

    with Collin Graham

    Tuesday, June 16

    1 - 3:30 p.m.

    Course

This in-person course meets all requirements for proof of Alcohol Compliance Training for the Oklahoma ABLE Commission. Taught by Collin Graham, a CERTIFIED SERVSAFE & ALCOHOL COMPLIANCE INSTRUCTOR this course includes awareness of the dangers of drinking, practical tips and legal responsibilities for employers and employees. Employees who get the training can register for their license immediately after the course, or within 14 days via their phone or computer. The fee is $33.50 for a 2 year license.

    Importance

Why is this important?  According to SB 1032, the "Safe Harbor" act, it establishes certain standards for licensed alcohol sellers to determine culpability for wrongdoing by individual employees, requiring disclosure and affidavits of compliance.  In other words- get proof your employees received training and are licensed before they serve. More on SB 1032:

What It Means To You: SB 1032 establishes a clear affirmative defense for licensed alcohol establishments, like bars, restaurants, and event venues, when an employee serves alcohol to a minor, intoxicated person, or mentally impaired individual, as long as the business followed strict training and compliance steps.

To claim this defense, the establishment must:

    · Require valid employee alcohol licenses.

    · Require seller-server training within 14 days of hire and every two years upon renewal of the employee license.

    · Have clear written policies against serving prohibited individuals.

    · Document that employees read and acknowledged those policies.

If these conditions are met, and a violation still occurs, the business can defend itself and possibly avoid penalties from the ABLE Commission. However, if three violations of the same kind occur in a year, even by different employees, a rebuttable presumption is created that the business encouraged the behavior, shifting the burden of proof onto the business.

    Location & Parking

    Hampton Inn & Suites, Downtown

Complimentary parking is available for attendees with a parking pass.

    1. Stop by the front desk to obtain your parking pass BEFORE parking.
    2. Park behind hotel in the angled parking spaces (labeled valet lot on the map).
    3. DO NOT park in the large parking lot west of the hotel (red X on the map), as it is not managed by the hotel and vehicles parked there will receive a ticket.
